Opening the Heart: Joy of Living 2

Dates/Times
8 weeks: Tuesdays, February 2, 2021 to March 23, 2021
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Eastern US Time

Live Online Course with Kell Julliard and Tsunma Kunsang Palmo

In this meditation workshop we will learn how meditating on loving-kindness and compassion can open our hearts to the world around us and relax the self-centered tendencies that lead to anxiety, dissatisfaction, and suffering. Cultivating loving-kindness and compassion helps us to see the basic goodness that all beings share. By relating to others in an open-hearted way, we bring peace to the mind and develop a sense of confidence and purpose. This, in turn, naturally brings harmony to our relationships and enables us to work with challenging situations more effectively. The schedule for this workshop includes video teachings by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, short presentations on the key points of meditation practice by Tergar facilitators, as well as guided meditations and discussion.

This workshop is open to meditators who have previously attended a Calming the Mind: Joy of Living 1 meditation workshop/retreat or a Joy of Living 1 program online, and meet the practice requirements. If you come from another tradition and feel you may meet the pre-requisite meditation study and practice requirements, please contact us.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS:

Kell Julliard has practiced meditation in a variety of traditions since his early twenties. In 2009 he met Mingyur Rinpoche and has since studied intensively with Rinpoche and the Tergar Meditation Community. During this time he has served as practice leader for the Tergar New York City Meditation Center. In addition to Kell’s role with Tergar, he currently serves as director of clinical research at a large community health system in Brooklyn, where he also teaches mindfulness meditation to faculty, students, and staff.

Tsunma Kunsang Palmo, originally from England, travelled and worked around the world as an art teacher in international schools for over a decade. On a trip to Nepal she encountered Lama Zopa Rinpoche and was so inspired by the teachings that she chose to stay in Asia and live a life immersed in the Dharma. Soon after that she travelled to Himachal Pradesh in North India where she met Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo and was further inspired by her guidance and teachings. She went on to complete a three-year retreat at Sherabling Monastery under the guidance of Mingyur Rinpoche. Since then she has continued to study with Mingyur Rinpoche and, as a Tergar International facilitator, has led Joy of Living workshops and retreats in India. She currently lives at Osel Ling Monastery and is the meditation teacher at Abiding Heart Education, Mingyur Rinpoche’s teacher training program in Kathmandu, Nepal.
