ABOUT THE FACILITATORS:

Martha McCurdy holds a Doctorate in Neuroscience and has enjoyed teaching undergraduate and graduate students in the Kinesiology Department at UW-Madison. She encountered Tergar Madison at the inaugural meeting in 2011 on UW Campus in “The Old Red Gym”. As a new meditator, she marveled at the benefits of meditation supported by scientific study as well as the mix of new and long-time practitioners who were attracted to Mingyur Rinpoche’s systematic and heart filled approach to teaching meditation. “Today, I am filled with gratitude for this meditation community and feel there is nothing better to devote my energies toward than welcoming and supporting others to engage with these extraordinary practices.“

Barbara moved to Madison 13 years ago from Switzerland where she grew up. She studied Business Administration, Marketing and Communication and worked for many years in development for the Swiss Red Cross being a co-founder and co-organizer of the annual Swiss Red Cross Gala in Geneva. She is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and spent extended periods of time studying and practicing yoga and meditation in Switzerland, France, India and the United States. Her interest in yoga and meditation was sparked as a child by her grandfather who was a dedicated yoga practitioner and owned a library full of books by the great meditation masters of our times.
