with Myoshin Kelley, Edwin Kelley, and Justin Kelley

(This event was originally scheduled for January 18, but it was rescheduled due to weather.)

Many in the West believe that Buddhism is somehow self-centered and disconnected from greater social well-being. This could not be further from the truth. During this dialogue, we will begin to examine the six perfections (pāramitā), a core structure for understanding how our practice is expressed through relationship with our community, both near and far.

Each of the six perfections—generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom—serve as essential gateways to engage our practice. During this afternoon discussion, through reflective, interactive, and engaged activities, we will examine how the first two perfections—generosity and patience—arise in both our historical lineage and our lives now.

This program is the first of three offerings over the course of 2020. During the second and third sessions (dates TBD), we will continue to explore the topic of the six perfections. This event is open to all and requires no prior knowledge of the six perfections or the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

Registration is not required, but appreciated for planning purposes. Thank you.

Date/Time: Saturday, March 7, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Tergar Minneapolis/St. Paul is serious about making our meditation programs accessible to all. We are currently trying a pay-what-you-can registration approach to ensure that anyone who wants to participate is able to do so. You are invited to register at the base rate, a reduced rate, or without a cash payment. If your financial situation allows, in the spirit of interdependence, please consider registering above the base rate in order to support making these teachings as widely accessible as possible. Since Tergar is a registered non-profit, any amount you pay over the suggested level will be tax-deductible as applicable under current law.

If you wish to pay a different amount than our options allow, feel free to select the option “I will pay what I can at the door” and bring any payment amount to the event.

For your convenience, here are the preset options:

  • $30
  • $20 – Base Rate
